Elevation API

Our elevation API provides convenient access to Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data. Our API gives you elevation data at the highest available resolution (30 meters). And as with all our APIs we support querying based on full routes not just points.

What makes our elevation API the best? Our API is designed to handle requests at full resolution. Unlike the Google Elevation API we have no limit on the number of locations per request, where Google limits you to 512 locations per request. What does this mean? At full resolution the Google Elevation API can only handle a route about 10 miles long, any longer and you have to start stitching multiple API results together and will quickly run up your billing.

We use our Elevation API to calculate edge weights in our route network as well as provide high resolution elevation profiles of routes in our map. Our API is built for high resolution, high volume requests. It's fast enough to handle continent scale routes at full resolution. Whatever your needs our Elevation API can handle it.

Headwind API

Our Headwind API gives you access to the most up to date wind forecasts available. Our data is pdated every 15 minutes, giving you the most accurate forecasts possible. We use the Headwind API to power our map, allowing you to find routes that avoid headwind.

Weather API

Our weather API provides full realtime weather forecasting information as well as historical data. Our weather data comes straight from the NOAA, but we make it easier than ever to work with. Want to find the perfect spot for your next wind surfing excursion? Use our headwind API. Strava not cutting it and you want a more accurate estimate of your power output for that PR you set last week? Use our historical weather API to find just how windy it was.

Our API allows you to find the weather along a route, not just at a point. We use our weather API for calculating the headwind along a cycling route this allows us to more accurately estimate ride duration. But our weather API is useful for more than just wind, we provide access to a full weather forecast, from precipitation levels to humidity to air pressure. Check out our documentation to see all the data available through our Weather API

Safety API

Our safety API is based on accident data we've collected over several years. We continuously collect data from national, state, and local governments to provide the most up to date picture of where it's safest to bike. Our data is updated on a daily basis.

We don't just rely on raw accident data, we use machine learning to accurately predict how safe a street is based not just on accident data but ridership volume, current traffic, current weather, and dozens of other variables. Want to make your own navigation app? Use our API to get the safest route from A to B. Are you a local government looking to improve your bike infrastructure? Use our API to find problematic areas in your route network. Want to start a bike share service? Use our API to find the safest locations to put your bikes.
